What is that one thing that everyone thinks they are good at but no one has the slightest idea of what is going on? Well, not that we don’t know exactly but we might be blowing our horns too hard. It is one thing whose expertise is relative. At least in my opinion. However, I also like to keep an open mind for with the knowledge I gain each day, my views for today might not be the same as tomorrow. Before I digress, sex! Everyone thinks they are good at it and are never to blame for underperformance or under satisfaction. But it takes two to tango, but you can only have a rhythm to a song that you know, a familiar dance partner or a song that ultimately touches your soul even at the first listen. So, can anyone outshine others? Well, everyone has their personal experience.
Marvin Gaye is legendary for never being shy to express what he felt about physical intimacy. His lyrics express a poetic and artistic form of intimacy that could only be imagined. Let’s get it on is a lyrically charged song that could literally take you to cloud nine. It expresses a feeling of freedom and comfort in our bodies as we explore them or as we would love our partners to see them. For most people it would even sound deeper when in love. And I do not disregard it. however, it is my belief that love and sex are mutually independent. It would be out of this world when this two come together. The earth might even explode underneath your feet, I would imagine, before that, let’s have fun, shall we?
What we do most of the time is hit and run. The sloppy seconds that end in blame, regret or slut-shaming. We give this art a bad name. with the new age you would expect people to be more liberal and enjoy one of the few natural gifts of life that can be shared with others. In the past sex was viewed as a gift from a woman to her husband after they got married and for the man it was mainly for the purpose of having children. No one was concerned about what the other wanted or felt, as long as the act was done that was it. There are probably people who still hold the same beliefs but it is alright. In some aspects liberalism is also subjective. If you know both sides of the coin and pick one even if it is different from the rest, I believe you qualify as liberal, the mistake would be for one faction to judge the other.
In the same line, I have met people who regretted having sex at a younger age and by younger age I don’t mean underage. Probably early twenties. I think it is for the guilt they felt considering what they had learnt about sex growing up. However, I do not hold the same believes. I know at that age it was more about wondering what the whole thing was about and satisfying the body’s natural desire of needing someone. As we grow older, we tend to understand more about it and discover that we could make the best feelings for ourselves. It becomes more than feeling a natural desire of the body and expressing yourself in a form that is God-given. It is at this point that your insecurities do not matter and those that you work hard to hide become beautiful. You have the chance to trace every line and scar with your fingers. Discover the story behind it, see the beauty that hides behind the pain that transpired as you were getting the marks on your body.
It is a time that the air grows thinner between you and another human being. The rhythms of your hearts are pounding to a song that can only be heard by your bodies. It is a moment that when you close your eyes, you don’t just see darkness but stars light up your sky and a cool breeze blows on your bodies. You do not remember what you were thinking about as you are stuck in a moment that can only be expressed with the rhythm of your bodies that are intertwined in harmony. And when it is all said and done, the sweet release makes you smile, happy for the artistic work that you have made without being aware that you had it in you.
To answer my initial question, is anyone good at it? Everyone as long as they got what is required is. What sets the whole issue apart could be playing different songs thus lacking the rhythm to tango. Ignoring what to give and just expecting to receive in total disregard for the other and not willing to explore the beauty in the other person. It could be a new song that you are trying to get a hang of before bursting your greatest moves. Marvin Gaye’s lyrics to this song takes us to a whole different level of our humanity. It is a trip free of charge out of this world that is both effortless and wonderful. It is beyond mind, body and soul. It is just perfection in another human being. It is what brightens the darkness that is our lives. It is an inexplicable beauty.
