Poetry & distance: Life is not just about reluctance, but poetry and distance

Story behind this blog

Here’s to the stories that relate. To the beauty of art that is within us. To the fantasies that we’d love to live but are caught up in our duty to survive instead. Stories that are beyond chasing life and living instead.

A Journey Through Words and Wonder

Poetry Distance — a quiet space on the internet where emotion meets expression, and words carry the weight of memory, thought, and feeling. This site is a sanctuary for those who reflect deeply, feel intensely, and seek meaning in life’s subtleties.

Every poem, piece of prose, or lyrical thought shared here is born from personal experience, nostalgia, love, pain, joy, and the quiet moments in between. Whether inspired by music, a fleeting emotion, or a long-forgotten memory, each entry is written to resonate — to remind us that we are not alone in how we feel.

There is a quiet place where deep thought lives
in the pauses between breaths, in the weight of memory,
in the space between you and the thing you ache for. From the soul’s hunger for meaning. From the beauty and burden of feeling too much.

We are a home for wandering hearts, thinking minds, and souls that never quite settle.
We write for those who stare out of moving trains,
for those who feel ancient even when they are young,
for those whose inner worlds are too wide to fit into small conversations.

This is for the ones who are haunted by lyrics
who hear a line in a song and feel like it was written for the life they never said out loud.
For the ones who carry existential questions like pocket stones:
Why are we here? What do we lose in love? What is distance, really?

We explore not just separation between people,
but the distance between now and who we used to be.
The stretch of time between a dream and its fading.
The ache of watching a sunset and feeling like it’s saying something you can’t quite translate.

So if your heart is heavy with the things you can’t explain
if you’ve ever been moved by a lyric, a place, or a thought that made you feel both lost and found—
you’re already one of us.
